Mawage!

What am I gibberizing?

Just think back to when Buttercup and Prince Humperdink are about to be wed on 'Princess Bride'.

"Mawage is wot bwings us togeder tooday. Mawage, that bwessed awangment, that dweam wifin a dweam..."

Hours after the proposal, B & J gaze at the new rock on a certain finger.

That's right, folks. Your beloved Yukon pals, B. Green and J. Liu are getting hitched!

(And those initials will stay the way they are, by the way. No J. Green over in this house. Like mother, like daughter-- but that is a subject for another post.)

It was done a couple of days before the takeoff to Mexico. In truth, it had been 'done' for a long, long time before that. In a tent on the meadow of lovely Saturna, a certain young man had told a certain young woman his knowledge that for them, there would be no one else but each other. And there had been yelping and clutching of hands and hearts and a new and safe feeling of togetherness.

Through the armpit of a Winter of illness and sadness and oft-felt despair, this promise of what was to come was a whispering reminder of Hope. Yes, cold nights getting colder, and dark nights getting darker.. but also bonds tethered stronger. Everything fonder.

And now? Light has come back, in the form of Spring. Sun fills our kitchen until nine in the evening, and the dainty gold ring hints at the beginning of a long, forthcoming story of a B and a J, wrinkled and old.

Little Joann rejoicing! She gets new shiny diamond belt to wear.

So here we go. May this next year before the wedding be exactly the way it is now, full of two best friends going on adventures in a melting landscape of snow.

  3. I'm so happy for you! Yay for love in cold winter days... Which for you is more than what the rest of us gets in tropical climates. Love in hot mucky weather just isn't the same.
